PPM Consultants recently hired Bill Parrish as senior project manager for the firm’s Spanish Fort office. Parrish has 27 years of experience in environmental science and geology and has conducted site investigations across the United States and in South America.
Parrish’s experience comprises a wide range of geological, hydrogeological and environmental projects that include proposed, operational, and closed solid waste units, military installations, formerly utilized defense sites, off shore oil and gas platforms, on-shore refineries, creosote spill sites, underground storage tanks, chlorinated solvent release sites, and unexploded ordinance (UXO) sites.
His technical support experience includes remedial investigations/feasibility studies, remedial investigations/remedial actions, Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) and Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) activities, as well as site investigations involving hazardous, toxic, and radiological waste substances.
Principal Keith Pyron said, “Bill brings a broader range of environmental experience to our office than we have ever had. His experience involving hazardous waste and environmental compliance issues is incredibly extensive.”
Parrish was initially drawn to environmental science by the influence of a mentor, Dr. Glen Sebastian, while attending the University of South Alabama. Parrish considers the role of an environmental consulting as “kind of like an investigator at a crash site.” He explained, “There is the ‘crash’ [or] source of a contaminant that may be harmful, clues as to where it originated from, all the pieces of data…that pull it together to form a picture.”
Parrish believes the biggest environmental challenge facing today’s businesses is the “labyrinth of regulatory and compliance requirements.” His goal is “to bring a cost effective approach to clients all the while making the effort as seamless as possible.”
Parrish holds a Bachelor of Science in geology from the University of South Alabama. He is registered as a professional geologist in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee. Parrish previously served as senior geologist and project manager at Aerostar SES, LLC in Mobile.
